When to message a seller before ordering
Some questions are worth asking before the money leaves your account, and others only slow both sides down. Here is the line between the two.
Message the seller when the answer would change whether or how you buy: whether a variant is actually in stock, whether an item can ship by a certain date, whether a measurement in the table includes packaging, or whether a custom order is possible. Those are questions only the seller can answer from their stockroom.
Do not message to ask things the listing already answers. Dispatch times, return windows and shipping costs are on the product page, and a seller answering the same question fifty times has less time to pack orders well. Read first, then ask.
Keep pre-order messages short and specific. One clear question gets a clear answer; a paragraph of background gets a paragraph of guesswork. If you need to confirm several things, number them so nothing is skipped.
Save the conversation. If a seller tells you something that differs from the listing — a longer dispatch time, a slightly different spec — the message is your record of what you actually agreed to, and it makes any later dispute simple instead of argued.
